FAS8200 and AFF A300 storage systems might not boot due to BIOS hardware identification failures, characterized by "BIOS POST" failure messages, such as:

  • Failed to determine the board type

Solution

Proactive mitigation:

Software and firmware fixes have been implemented to address possible boot failures and system disruptions for FAS8200 and AFF A300 storage systems.

Upgrade ONTAP and System BIOS (version 11.20, bundled with the ONTAP image) to one of the releases below:
